Fountain of Youth – Hormones

We are all looking for that magic thing to make us look and feel younger. We like to call it the fountain of youth!  We know that we could use a good skin care regimen or a neurotoxin and filler to help get back our youthful appearance, but the biggest reason for aging on the inside and out is the depletion of our hormones as we age. With that, it also makes us susceptible to diseases such as Alzheimers, heart disease, cancer and much more. We find that we are not sleeping as well, not handling stress like we used to, gaining weight, loss of libido, hot flashes and night sweats for women, osteoporosis in both men and women, and many changes in our skin. For men, the loss of testosterone aids in shrinking muscles, decreased stamina, fatigue, depression, gall-bladder problems and enlarged breasts.

The goal is to keep our hormones balanced at optimum levels with the exact replica that our body makes naturally. When hormones are imbalanced, the possibility of abnormal cell division (cancer) increases.

The important hormones to keep balanced are:

Estrogen – which is a group of different but related hormones that affects 300 different tissues in our body. Balancing your estrogen and progesterone with Bio-Identical Replacement will restore your body to healthy prime along with protecting against endometrial cancer and fibrocystic breasts, facilitates thyroid function, improves energy, stamina, and endurance and is a natural anti-depressant.

DHEA – is another hormone that we lose as we age. This hormone has positive effects on the brain, immune system, muscles, and other organs and tissues. It also helps to maintain collagen levels in skin promoting smoother and younger looking skin.

Cortisol is your stress hormone. It is released by your adrenal glands and is one of the major hormones in your body. There is a cortisol connection to getting fat. Cortisol will give you energy but in response to stress. Your body will secrete cortisol for whatever stress you encounter. When your cortisol is chronically elevated because of stress, it creates a devastating cycle of alternating high blood sugar and high insulin. This will contribute to heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and even death. Maintaining proper hormone levels and balance will resolve high cortisol.

Thyroid – hormones regulate body temperature, heart rate and metabolism. You most definitely want this tested to ensure it is normal range. Weight gain is a classic symptom of an under active thyroid along with many more symptoms. Your TSH should fall between 1.0 and 2.0 for optimal range.

There are several other hormones that should be within optimal range such as testosterone, melatonin and more. I will address them in a future article.

What could be better than having your doctor tell you that you have the bones of a 20 year old or the heart of a 30 year old? You can be young on the inside if you follow the advice of an anti-aging doctor who utilizes a compounding pharmacy to replicate your natural hormones. Call one today to achieve living that younger life!
